Hello! I work as both a practitioner and an academic in the field of psychological counseling. I conduct therapy processes with young adults and adults from various nations and cultures.

In my sessions, I listen to the client’s agenda and provide space for them to explore their inner world and establish a deeper connection with themselves. Throughout this process, I support them in recognizing recurring patterns in their relationships and understanding how these patterns impact their lives.

My psychodynamically oriented and insight-focused approach involves jointly exploring the emotional and relational dynamics at play. As research has shown, regardless of the specific approach or technique used, the most important and consistently healing factor in therapy is the therapeutic relationship itself. Traumas and experiences that have yet to be fully understood often require such a relational space above all.

I first graduated from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance at Hacettepe University. I then completed my master’s and first doctoral degrees in Psychological Counseling at Middle East Technical University. I earned my second Ph.D. in the United States, in Counseling with Mental Health Counseling concentration at Old Dominion University. During this period, I provided supervision at the university and conducted individual therapy and various interventions in a hospital-based clinical setting. I offered therapy and counseling services to clients presenting with issues such as major depression, anxiety disorders, and medical trauma. I also supervised master’s students in clinical mental health counseling during their practicum and internship. Throughout my training and clinical work, I have gained extensive experience and developed expertise particularly around themes of trauma, grief and loss, immigration, and cultural sensitivity.

In my academic career, I have taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses such as individual counseling, clinical mental health counseling, grief and loss counseling, psychopathology, multicultural counseling, and theories of personality. I currently teach at Middle East Technical University, TED University in Ankara, and MEF University in Istanbul. I believe that the professional experiences I gain through working with students, colleagues, and clients continuously enrich one another.
